Blue Mountain Lodge Wedding Venue, nestled in the picturesque countryside of Linden, Virginia, boasts a rich history. Originally built as a retreat for travelers seeking respite in the Virginia mountains, the lodge has retained its rustic charm while offering modern amenities. It was once a French restaurant. Its warm, cozy atmosphere provided the perfect setting for Moriah and Alex’s celebration of love.

The most memorable part of capturing Moriah and Alex’s first look was the serene and private moment they shared at a dock built by Moriah’s dad. It was an extra-special setting that truly reflected their love and personal connection to the venue.
As the sun began its descent over the Shenandoah Valley, painting the sky in shades of pink and orange, all the guests rushed outside with their cell phones to capture selfies with their loved ones. The sunset not only enhanced the natural beauty of the surroundings but also added a magical touch to the wedding photography experience. Built with cozy vibes in mind, Blue Mountain Lodge features warm wood interiors and spacious decks that invite guests to unwind and enjoy nature.
Moriah and Alex infused their personalities into the wedding decor with unique details. A custom seating chart made from vinyl records added a nostalgic and musical touch, reflecting their shared love for music. Additionally, they named two signature drinks after their beloved fur-babies, adding a sweet and personal touch to the reception.
During the reception, there was a candid moment that stood out to me as a photographer. It felt like being at a Taylor Swift concert, with everyone in the room singing the lyrics at the top of their lungs, myself included. It was such a fun and joyous moment where guests bonded over shared memories and music—a true highlight of the evening. With its spacious grounds and versatile indoor-outdoor spaces, Blue Mountain Lodge accommodates both intimate gatherings and larger celebrations seamlessly.
Photographing at Blue Mountain Lodge presented its challenges, particularly with the bright and sometimes harsh natural light streaming through the west-facing ceremony site and windows during the ceremony, dinner, and the reception. However, these challenges turned into opportunities to capture epic photographs, utilizing the natural light to create stunning and memorable images of Moriah and Alex’s celebration.
One of the highlights of Blue Mountain Lodge is its breathtaking views of the Shenandoah Valley. As the ceremony unfolded, guests were treated to panoramic vistas that stretched as far as the eye could see. The deck off the back of the lodge, facing west, promised an epic sunset, painting the sky with hues of gold and lavender—a photographer’s dream backdrop!
From the intimate ceremony by the fireplace to the lively reception filled with laughter and heartfelt toasts, the lodge exuded cozy vibes throughout the day. Moriah and Alex’s choice of venue perfectly complemented their laid-back yet colorful style, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for all their guests. The lodge boasts modern amenities while retaining its old-world charm, offering a blend of comfort and nostalgia.
I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Moriah and Alex’s wedding day on not one, but 4 different cameras. Here are some of my favorite photos captured on film, and a glimpse at the Polaroids they took home with them that night.
